Soaring prices of car insurance rates have drawn every one’s attention to making driving safe. The rate of accidents has drastically increased in past few decades. The main reasons behind this are unsafe driving, not following traffic rules, and the major one is cell phone.

People keep on calling, chatting, gossiping about useless things even while driving. Traffic regulations have clearly stated that using cell phone while driving is illegal and can lead to a penalty. But this was not enough. Now youth have used an alternative to this and text through their cell while they drive.

But the authorities have their eye on it too. Recently, NY traffic authorities have declared penalties for texting or messaging while driving the car. Governor Andrew Cuomo signed into law that use of any electronic device to send or receive messages, check emails or any other such actions will be primary offense. In the year 2009, they were under secondary offense that is the driver cannot be charged, unless he has violated some other traffic rule along with messaging while driving.

From now drivers who are busted for violating this rule can be charged a penalty of about $150 and 3 points will be added to their driving records. This is where the warning signal is turned on.

As we discussed in our last post, car insurance premiums are soaring high because of unsafe driving, and hence the insurance companies are planning to plant a black box in the cars to monitor a driver’s driving record. A driver with a bad driving record will automatically be charged high premium rates. And the case will get worse if the driver is an adult between the ages of 19-22 years.

New York is the first state to ban use of hand-held devices while driving. And the rule will soon be widely accepted by all the states and countries.

All the problems related to unsafe driving and car insurance rates can be brought down by following traffic rules and regulations.
